Client Portal Magic Links: One-Click Access to Portal Apps
A magic link is a secure, one-time login link for a specific contact and a specific Client Portal app. The contact clicks it and lands right in the app, such as a course or community, without typing a password.
Generate a magic link
- Go to Sites in the left menu.
- Open the Client Portal dropdown at the top and choose Dashboard.
- In the Actions panel, click Generate next to Generate Magic Link.
- Choose the link type. Custom Menu creates a link meant for navigating the portal.
- Under Select App, choose the app the link should open.
- Choose the contact who'll use the link.
- Click Generate, then copy the link.
Good to know
- Links made this way expire after 15 minutes. A countdown shows how long is left, so send the link right away.
- Each link works only for the contact it was created for. Don't share one contact's link with someone else.
- The contact still needs access to the app. A magic link doesn't grant access to a course or community they aren't enrolled in.
Send links automatically
To send magic links at scale, such as in a welcome email after purchase, use the portal's login link in your email or workflow templates rather than generating links one at a time.
