Use CC and BCC in the Email Composer

You can add CC and BCC recipients to emails you send from Conversations.
  • CC sends a copy to other people. Everyone can see who was copied.
  • BCC sends a copy privately. Other recipients can't see BCC addresses.
CC and BCC are part of the new message composer. If you don't see them, turn on the new composer in Labs.

When to use them

  • Project updates: email the team and CC a manager.
  • Customer service: reply to a customer and CC a colleague.
  • Private notice: BCC someone who needs to know without the main recipient seeing.
  • Group announcements: BCC recipients so no one sees the others' addresses.
  • Suppliers: send one message to several suppliers without sharing addresses.

How to use them

  1. Click New Email, or Reply in an email thread.
  2. Click the CC or BCC field next to To to open it.
  3. Add the recipients.
  4. Click the field again to collapse it.
CC and BCC work with two-way email sync. When an email has CC or BCC recipients, you can only use Reply all.

FAQs

Does adding an outside email to CC or BCC create a contact?
No.
What if I CC an existing contact?
The email shows only in the main (To) contact's conversation, not in the CC'd contact's.
Does it work with every email channel?
Yes. It works with the built-in email service, synced Gmail and Outlook inboxes, SMTP, and custom email providers.
