Send WhatsApp Media Messages with Captions
You can send images, videos, audio files, and documents in WhatsApp conversations, with your message as the caption.
Before you start
- This works in the new Conversations experience. Turn it on in Labs if you don't see it.
- WhatsApp must be connected to your account.
- Select WhatsApp as the channel before you send.
- Outside the 24-hour customer service window, WhatsApp may require an approved template instead.
Supported files
| Type | Formats | Max size | | --- | --- | --- | | Images | PNG, JPG, JPEG | 5 MB | | Videos | MP4, 3GP | 16 MB | | Audio | AAC, AMR, MP3, M4A | 16 MB | | Documents | TXT, PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX | 100 MB |
Send from your device
- Open the contact's WhatsApp conversation in Conversations.
- Check WhatsApp is the selected channel.
- Click the attachment icon and upload a file.
- Type a message to use as the caption.
- Send.
When you send a file and text together, the text becomes the file's caption instead of a separate message.
Send from Media Storage
- In the WhatsApp conversation, open the attachment or Media Storage option.
- Browse or search for the file and select one or more.
- Add a caption if you like.
- Send.
Save WhatsApp media
WhatsApp media can expire, so save files you'll need later.
- Find the message with the attachment.
- Click the three-dot menu next to it.
- Select Add to Documents.
- Check the file is in the contact's Documents.
