Message WhatsApp Contacts by Username in the Mobile App

In the FunnelStreams mobile app, you can message existing WhatsApp contacts by their @username, even if you don't have their phone number.
  • Contacts with only a username can be picked as recipients.
  • If a contact's username and phone number belong to the same person, they show as one recipient, with the @username on top and the number underneath.
  • The 24-hour window and scheduling rules use the right username.
You can't search for and message any WhatsApp username. This only works for WhatsApp contacts already known in your account, for example people who've messaged you.

Before you start

  • Update to the latest version of the FunnelStreams mobile app.
  • No extra setup is needed.

Send a message

  1. Open your account in the app and go to Conversations.
  2. Open a conversation or start a new message.
  3. Tap the To selector and search for the contact.
  4. Tap their @username.
  5. Write your message:
  6. Inside the 24-hour customer service window, send a normal message.
  7. Outside it, use an approved WhatsApp template.
  8. Send now, or schedule it. If you schedule a normal message, make sure it still falls inside the 24-hour window.

Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to check | | --- | --- | | Username-only contact shows as unavailable | Update the app, and check the contact is a known WhatsApp contact. | | Username isn't in the To list | Check the contact has WhatsApp activity in your account. | | Phone and username show separately | Update the app and check both belong to the same contact. | | Can't send a normal message | The 24-hour window may have closed. Use a template. | | Scheduled message won't send | Make sure the send time is inside the allowed window. |
