Use Wait Time in a Recurring Timer
What wait time does
A recurring timer counts down, resets and starts again. Custom wait time adds a pause after each countdown before the next cycle begins, for example an offer that runs for 2 days and then rests for 5.
Set it up
- Go to Marketing → Countdown Timers and click + New.
- Choose a template and click Continue with this template.
- Set the timer type to Recurring and set the start and end offsets.
- Enter the number of loop events (how many times the cycle repeats).
- Set the custom wait time, such as 5 days 12 hours.
- (Optional) Turn on Hide Timer in Wait State to hide the timer on funnel pages during the pause.
- Choose the expiry page or URL people see during the wait.
- Save, then add the timer to your funnels or emails.
The timer lifecycle
Active countdown → reaches 00:00 → wait (your custom duration) → next active cycle starts automatically → repeats.
| State | In emails | In funnels | | --- | --- | --- | | Active | Live countdown | Live countdown | | Wait | Shows 00:00:00. Clicking goes to the expiry page | Hidden or shows 00:00:00, depending on your setting. Refreshing goes to the expiry page | | Reset | A new cycle starts | A new cycle starts |
Good to know
- In emails, the zero state is a plain "00:00:00". Your styling isn't applied during the wait.
- Hide Timer in Wait State only affects funnels. Emails always show the zero state.
- If someone stays on a page as the timer moves from active to wait without refreshing, they keep seeing the page until they refresh.
