How Recurring Timers Behave in Emails and Funnels

Recurring timer states

A recurring timer resets on a schedule instead of expiring for good. It moves through three states:
  • Wait: the countdown hasn't started yet
  • Active: the countdown is running and visible
  • Expired: the countdown has ended

When to use a recurring timer

  • Daily or weekly offers ("Offer ends in 2 hours, every day")
  • Promotions that reset on a schedule
  • Evergreen funnels, automated sales sequences and countdowns to recurring webinars

In emails

| Timer state | Clicking the timer link goes to | | --- | --- | | Wait | Expiry page | | Active | Active page | | Expired | Expiry page |
People can only reach the active page from an email while the timer is active.

In funnels

  • Timer expires while someone is on the active page: they're redirected to the expiry page automatically.
  • Timer enters the wait state while someone is on the active page: they stay on the page until they refresh or navigate, then go to the expiry page.
  • Someone opens the page during the wait: they see the expiry page, or the hidden or zero-state timer, depending on your settings.

Tips

  • Make your expiry page useful. Explain when the offer comes back and invite people to join a waitlist.
  • Test each state before launch by setting short durations.
