Email Sequences: Automated Follow-Ups

What email sequences are

An email sequence sends a series of automated emails to selected contacts, lists or segments. Follow-ups are sent in the same email thread, so they read like a conversation.

Sequences vs. campaigns vs. workflows

  • Regular campaign: one email sent once (or in batches).
  • Email sequence: several emails with delays and conditions, in one thread. Great for sales outreach, onboarding and nurture.
  • Workflow: full automation across email, SMS, tasks and more, triggered by contact events.

Key features

  • Single thread: follow-ups reply in the same thread.
  • Stop on reply: future emails stop once a contact replies.
  • Delays and conditions: control timing and send steps based on opens or delivery.
  • Designed or plain-text emails for each step.
  • Statistics for the whole sequence and each step.

Set up a sequence

  1. Go to Marketing → Emails → Campaigns and choose Create an Email Sequence.
  2. Set when it starts: right away or at a scheduled time.
  3. Choose the audience: contacts, lists or segments.
  4. Turn on Stop on Reply if follow-ups should stop when someone replies.
  5. Add email steps.
  6. Add delays between steps.
  7. Add conditions, such as "only if not opened".
  8. Set up each step's content, designed or plain text, and tracking.
  9. Review and activate.

Check performance

From the sequence list, open the three-dot menu and select Statistics.
