Fix HTML Tags Showing in RSS Emails

Some RSS feeds include HTML in their post descriptions. If your RSS email shows tags such as <p> or <br> instead of formatted text, change one variable so the HTML is rendered.
Only do this for feeds you trust. The change inserts the feed's HTML into your email as-is.

Fix it

  1. Go to Marketing → Emails → Templates and open the email in the Design Editor.
  2. Select the RSS Items block and choose Custom under RSS Editing Options.
  3. Find the description variable and change it from two braces to three:
  4. Before: {{rss_item.content}}
  5. After: {{{rss_item.content}}}
  6. Leave the RSS Items opening and closing loop tags as they are.
  7. Save.

Test the fix

  1. Click Preview.
  2. Open the three-dot menu next to Preview and select Test Email.
  3. Fill in the test details and add your RSS Feed URL.
  4. Send the test and check that paragraphs and links display correctly.

Still not right?

  • Tags still showing: make sure you edited the RSS Items block in Custom mode and changed the right variable.
  • Content is blank: add the feed URL to your test. For live sends, use RSS Schedule.
  • Formatting looks different by inbox: some HTML and CSS aren't supported everywhere. Simplify the feed's markup if you can.
