Send RSS Email Campaigns
An RSS email campaign checks a feed, such as your blog, on a schedule you set and emails your subscribers the new posts. It runs on your schedule. It doesn't send a separate email every time a post is published.
Before you start
- RSS feed URL: a public RSS or XML feed with published posts. A feed from your built-in blog includes published posts, not drafts.
- Verified sending domain: set up and verify your sending domain first.
- Recipients: know which contacts or smart list should receive it.
How the schedule works
- Frequency: choose daily, weekly or monthly.
- Days and time: set when it sends, and check the next send time and time zone shown.
- Maximum items: limit how many recent posts appear in one email. If there are more, the newest ones are used.
- New posts only: each send uses posts published since the last cycle, not the whole feed.
- No new posts: that cycle is skipped.
Set up the campaign
- Go to Marketing → Emails → Campaigns and create a New Campaign.
- Choose a template or start a new design.
- Add the RSS Items block. Optionally add RSS Header for feed details.
- Choose a layout, such as Title or Excerpts, and adjust the formatting.
- Click Send or Schedule and select RSS Schedule.
- Enter a campaign name if asked, and paste your feed into RSS Feed URL.
- Choose the frequency, days, send time and maximum number of items.
- Add the sender name and email, subject line, optional preview text and recipients.
- Check the feed URL, audience, next send time and time zone.
- Click Schedule.
Always use RSS Schedule for emails with RSS content. Other sending options leave the RSS fields empty.
Preview and test
- Click Preview to check desktop, tablet and mobile views.
- Open the three-dot menu next to Preview and select Test Email.
- Fill in the test details and add your feed in RSS Feed URL.
- Click Send Test Email and check titles, descriptions, links and images.
Unsubscribe links don't work in test emails.
Manage a scheduled RSS campaign
Open the campaign's actions menu in Marketing → Emails → Campaigns:
- Update Email Content: edit and save. Make changes well before the next send so they take effect.
- Reschedule: change the settings, click Save, then click Schedule. Do this at least 60 minutes before the next send. Saving alone doesn't apply the change.
- Pause and Resume: stop and restart sending. Resuming after a missed send time can send right away.
- Cancel: stops the campaign for good. This is different from deleting it.
- Resend to Unopened: follow up with contacts who didn't open a sent RSS email.
Troubleshooting
- Didn't send on schedule: check whether the feed had new posts. If not, that cycle was skipped. The campaign's audit log shows what happened.
- Blank RSS fields in a test: add the feed URL to the test.
