Posts and Channels in Communities
Posts and channels are the heart of your community. Admins set up channels, and members post, comment, and like to stay engaged.
Create a channel
Channels organize posts by topic, such as Announcements, Wins, or Questions.
- Open your group and go to channels.
- Click to add a channel.
- Enter a name, a short description, and choose an icon.
- Choose who can post, for example only admins in an Announcements channel.
- Save.
Create a post
- Click Write something at the top of the feed.
- Add a title and the post body.
- Add extras:
- Images and videos
- Embedded videos from YouTube or Loom by pasting the link
- Attachments such as PDFs
- Links and emoji
- Choose the channel from the dropdown.
- Click Publish.
Home timeline
The home timeline shows the newest posts from every channel. Members can filter by channel. Admins can pin important posts to the top.
Comments and likes
Members can like posts and comments and reply in threads. Admins and moderators can delete comments that break the rules.
Delete a post
Open the three-dot menu on the post and click Delete. Authors can delete their own posts, and admins can delete any post.
Tips
- Pin a welcome post that explains how the community works.
- Keep the number of channels small at first so conversations don't get spread thin.
