Community Chats for Direct Messages
Community chats let members send private messages to other members of the same community. They're great for following up after a discussion or asking someone a question one on one.
Who can chat
Members can message other members who share a community with them. They can't message people outside the community.
Chats vs. discussions
- Discussions (posts and comments) are public to the group.
- Chats are private between two members.
Unified inbox
All of a member's chats are in one inbox, across every community they belong to.
Notifications
Members get notified about new messages in the app and by email, based on their notification settings.
Privacy
Members can block someone or turn off messages. Admins can turn chats off for a group.
Set it up
- Open your group's settings.
- Turn on Chats (direct messages).
- Save.
Members will see a Message button on other members' profiles.
