Automate Community Group Access with Workflows
Workflows can give members access to community groups, take it away, and react when access changes. It's the easiest way to connect purchases, tags, and memberships to your community.
Triggers and actions
| Type | Name | What it does | | --- | --- | --- | | Trigger | Group access granted | Runs after a member gets access to a group | | Trigger | Group access revoked | Runs after a member loses access | | Action | Grant group access | Gives a contact access to a group | | Action | Revoke group access | Removes a contact's access |
Triggers run after access has already changed. Actions make the change.
Group access is different from join requests. Approving or rejecting a join request has its own triggers.
React to access changes
- Create a workflow and add the Group access granted or Group access revoked trigger.
- Choose the group.
- Add actions, such as sending a welcome email or tagging the contact.
- Publish.
Grant or revoke access automatically
- Create a workflow with the trigger you want, such as Order submitted, Tag added, or Subscription cancelled.
- Add the Grant group access or Revoke group access action.
- Choose the group.
- Publish.
Best practices
- Grant access after payment, and revoke it when a subscription is cancelled or a payment fails for good.
- Send a welcome message with a login link right after access is granted.
- Test with your own contact first.
