Set Expiry Dates and Reminders for Certificates and Badges

You can make certificates and badges expire after a set time, and email people before they do. It's useful for certifications that need renewing, such as yearly training.

Set an expiry date

  1. Go to Memberships > Credentials (Certificates and Badges).
  2. Open the certificate or badge template.
  3. Click Set expiry.
  4. Choose how long it stays valid after it's issued, such as 12 months.
  5. Save.
The expiry applies to credentials issued after you save. Ones already issued keep their original dates.

Send reminder emails

  1. In the same Set expiry window, turn on Reminder emails.
  2. Choose when to send them, such as 30 days and 7 days before expiry.
  3. Edit the email text and add a link to renew or retake the course.
  4. Save.

Tips

  • Pair expiry reminders with a renewal course or quiz.
  • Tell learners up front how long their certificate lasts.
