Badges, Points, and Leaderboards in Communities

Gamification keeps members active by rewarding them for joining, posting, and helping others. Your community has points, levels, a leaderboard, and badges.

Points and levels

Members earn points when others like their posts, comments, and replies. Points move them up through levels:
| Level | Points needed | | --- | --- | | 1 | 0 | | 2 | 5 | | 3 | 20 | | 4 | 65 | | 5 | 155 | | 6 | 515 | | 7 | 2,015 | | 8 | 8,015 | | 9 | 33,015 |
A member's level shows on their profile. You can rename the levels under Settings > Gamification & Rewards in your group.

Leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks the most active members over the last 7 days, 30 days, and all time.

Rewards

Unlock content at certain levels, for example a bonus course at Level 3, to give members a reason to engage.

Badges

Badges are awarded automatically when members hit milestones.
  • One-time badges: for milestones such as joining the community or becoming an admin.
  • Engagement badges: for ongoing activity such as posting, commenting, reacting, and getting likes.

Set up badges

  1. Open your group's Settings and go to Badges.
  2. Turn on the badges you want.
  3. Set the conditions, such as 10 posts or 50 likes.
  4. Choose or customize the badge design: name, image, and colors.
  5. Save.

What members see

Members can see the badges they've earned, track progress toward the next ones, and pick one to show next to their name.

Filter by badge

On the Members page, filter by badge to find your most active members, for example to invite them to be moderators.
