Bulk Opportunity Import via CSV
A CSV import creates new opportunities, updates ones you already have, or does both. Prepare the file before you upload it.
File rules
- The file must be
.csvand contain one sheet. - It must be smaller than 30 MB.
- The first row is the column headers.
- At least one column must match a field in the account.
Creating opportunities. Include Contact ID, Opportunity Name, and either Pipeline ID or Pipeline Name.
Updating opportunities. Include Opportunity ID.
If you leave these out, the import fills them in:
- Stage becomes the first stage in the pipeline.
- Opportunity value becomes 0.
- Status becomes Open.
- A valid lost reason sets the status to Lost.
Export opportunities to get Opportunity ID, Pipeline ID, and Stage ID. Export contacts to get Contact ID.

After it runs
Bulk actions lists each import with its status and when it finished. Show Stats reports how many rows were processed, how many succeeded, and which rows were warnings or errors. A warning usually means an optional field was skipped. An error means that row did not import.
Common errors:
- A multi-select value does not exactly match an existing option.
- The Contact ID is not in the account.
- A date is not in an accepted format.
- A unique field is duplicated.
- The file is not a valid CSV.
- Opportunity Name, Contact ID, or Pipeline ID is missing on a create.
