Quiz Scoring, Categories, and Result Pages

Scoring turns quiz answers into a result, such as an assessment score, a recommendation, or a personality type. You give answers points and categories, then build a result page that changes based on the score.

Add scores

  1. Go to Sites > Quizzes and create or open a quiz.
  2. Add your questions.
  3. For each answer, enter the points it's worth and the category it counts toward.
  4. Save and preview to check the results.

How scoring works

  • Overall score: the total points across all questions.
  • Category score: the points earned in each category.
  • Percentage score: points earned ÷ the most points possible, as a percentage.
To calculate the final score, each question has a maximum score (its highest-scoring answer). The quiz adds up the points the person earned and compares it with the total possible.
If you choose Overall only, the quiz shows just the overall score and ignores categories.

Show different messages by score

Add score ranges to your result page, and write a message for each one. For example, 0 to 40% gets "Getting started," and 80 to 100% gets "Expert." See "Score Tiers in Quizzes."

Personalize results by category

For personality-style quizzes, write different content for each category.
  1. In the result page editor, add an Individual Category section.
  2. Choose whether to show the highest or lowest scoring category.
  3. Write the content for each category, such as a headline, text, image, and button. The first category can be your template; copy it and change it for the others.

Build the result page

Available sections:
  • Header
  • Overall score
  • Category score
  • Individual category
  • Call to action, such as a button to book a call or buy a product
  • Footer

Best practices

  • Keep point values simple and consistent.
  • Make sure every category has about the same number of possible points.
  • Always end with a clear next step.
  • Save the score and result to contact fields so you can follow up with a workflow.
