WhatsApp Media Card Carousel Templates with Trigger Links

A media card carousel template has an intro message and up to 10 cards customers swipe through. Each card has media, a short description, and buttons. Add trigger links to URL buttons to track clicks and start follow-ups.
For example, a furniture store could show sofas, dining tables, and beds on separate cards.

Before you start

  • Your WhatsApp sending number is connected.
  • You have card images or videos, descriptions, and links ready.
  • You've planned what should happen when someone clicks each button.
  • Meta must approve the template before you send it.

Limits

| Part | Limit | | --- | --- | | Category | Marketing | | Intro message | Up to 1,024 characters | | Cards | Up to 10 | | Card header | Image or video | | Image size | Up to 5 MB | | Video size | Up to 16 MB | | Card description | Up to 160 characters |
All cards must use the same parts. For example, if one card has two buttons, they all need two.

1. Create trigger links

  1. Go to Marketing > Trigger Links > Links and click Add Link.
  2. Give it a clear name, like "Sofa Collection", and add the destination URL.
  3. Click Save.
Links can be static (one fixed page) or dynamic (using custom values). A normal URL isn't tracked unless it's a trigger link. Create one trigger link for each button you want to track.

2. Create the carousel template

  1. Go to Settings > WhatsApp > Templates and click Create Template.
  2. Write the intro message, for example "Hi {{1}}, explore our latest collections below."
  3. For each card, upload the media, add the description, and set up the buttons:
  4. URL: opens a web page. Choose your trigger link to track it.
  5. Quick Reply: sends a set reply back to you.
  6. Phone Number: lets the customer call you.
  7. Review every card, then submit.

3. Automate follow-ups

Trigger links don't start a workflow by themselves.
  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and create or edit a workflow.
  2. Add a Trigger Link filter, choose WhatsApp, and pick the carousel template. Branches are created for each trigger link.
  3. Add actions to each branch. For example, when someone clicks View Collection on the sofa card, add a "Sofa Interest" tag and notify your sales team.
Clicking a URL button doesn't open or reset the 24-hour customer service window.

4. Send it

  • Workflows: add a WhatsApp action, choose the number, and pick the carousel template.
  • Bulk actions: go to Contacts, select your audience, and choose the WhatsApp bulk action.
  • Conversations: open the contact, choose WhatsApp, and pick the template.
Send it to yourself or a colleague first.

Track results

  • Template performance: in Settings > WhatsApp > Templates, find the template and open Reports.
  • Clicks: check the contact's activity timeline for trigger link clicks.

FAQs

Do customers stay in WhatsApp when they tap a URL button? No, the link opens outside WhatsApp.
Does a click mean they bought something? No, it only shows they clicked.
Is the carousel option missing? Contact FunnelStreams support with the template name, where you're sending from, and a screenshot.
