WhatsApp Template Builder and Dynamic Media URLs
The WhatsApp template builder puts everything on one page: category, type, name, body, media, buttons, and variables. AI-written templates use the same builder.
Find it in Settings > WhatsApp > Templates, then Create or Edit.
Live phone preview
As you type, the preview shows how the message will look on WhatsApp. Spot layout problems before you submit to Meta. If the preview is blank, make sure you're in Settings > WhatsApp > Templates > Create / Edit.
Dynamic media URLs
Media headers can use custom fields and other dynamic values, not just one fixed URL. Each contact can get their own invoice, ticket, or image from a single approved template, instead of a new template for each file.
Dynamic media works everywhere you send WhatsApp templates: workflows, Conversations, bulk actions, calendar appointments, review requests, and Missed Call Text Back.
What works
- A public HTTPS link Meta can download sends normally.
- Private links, like files that need a login, can't be read by Meta, and the message fails.
Send each contact their own file
- Save a public HTTPS link to the file in a contact custom field.
- In the template's media header, choose that custom field instead of pasting a fixed link.
- Send from a workflow, bulk action, or conversation.
Send personalized images in bulk
- Design your image in an image personalization service, with a placeholder for the contact's name or another detail.
- Use the personalized image link as the media header, filling in the detail from a custom field.
- Run a bulk action.
Each person sees their own version. For example, "Here's a special offer for you, Sana." It also works for discount codes, event tickets with seat numbers, course certificates, and renewal dates.
