Stop on Response and Voicemail Detection
Two settings decide what happens when a workflow places an automated call to a contact:
- Stop on Response is a workflow setting. When it's on, a contact leaves the workflow as soon as they reply to any message from it, including SMS, email, or a call.
- Disable Voicemail Detect is an advanced option in the Call action. Voicemail detection is on by default, so the system can tell whether a person or a voicemail answered.
How they work together
| Stop on Response | Disable Voicemail Detect | Result | | --- | --- | --- | | On | On | A voicemail pickup counts as a reply and stops the workflow. Set the call timeout under 20 seconds so calls don't reach voicemail. | | On | Off | Voicemail is detected, so a voicemail pickup doesn't count as a reply and the contact stays in the workflow. | | Off | Off | The workflow keeps going no matter what. Calls connect a little slower because voicemail detection is on. | | Off | On | The workflow keeps going no matter what. Calls connect a little faster because voicemail detection is off. |
Which to choose
- To make sure a voicemail never stops the workflow, leave voicemail detection on.
- For the fastest call connection, turn voicemail detection off.
To find Stop on Response, open your workflow and click the Settings tab.
