Opportunity Changed Trigger

The Opportunity Changed trigger starts a workflow whenever an opportunity is updated. The Opportunity Status Changed trigger only watches the status. This one also catches changes to assignment, pipeline, lead value, lost reason, tags, and custom fields.

Set it up

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and open or create a workflow.
  2. Click Add New Trigger and choose Opportunity Changed.
  3. Give the trigger a clear name.
  4. Click Add Filters to choose which changes count. You can combine several filters.
  5. Save the trigger and add your actions.

Filters

| Filter | Operators | Example | | --- | --- | --- | | Assigned To | Has Changed, Has Changed To, Equals | Notify the new owner when an opportunity is reassigned. | | Tag | Pick tags | Start a follow-up when "Hot Lead" or "VIP" is added. | | In Pipeline | Has Changed, Has Changed To, Equals | Run steps when an opportunity moves to your Retention pipeline. | | Lead Value | Equals, Greater Than, Less Than, Has Changed | Alert a manager when a deal's value goes up. | | Lost Reason | Has Changed, Has Changed To, Equals | Send a discount offer when the lost reason is "Price Too High." | | Status | Is, Is Not, Has Changed, Has Changed To | Start onboarding when an opportunity is won. |
You can also filter on opportunity custom fields:
  • Checkbox fields: Added, Removed, Equals.
  • Radio, dropdown, and date fields: Has Changed, Has Changed To, Equals.

Has Changed vs. Has Changed To

  • Has Changed fires when the field changes to any value.
  • Has Changed To fires only when it changes to the value you pick.

Test it

Update an opportunity by hand, then check the workflow's Execution Logs.
