Use Gmail or Google Workspace as Your SMTP Provider
Before you start
Your Google account must have 2-Step Verification turned on. App passwords aren't available without it.
1. Create an app password
- Sign in to your Google account and open the Security page.
- Under How you sign in to Google, click 2-Step Verification and confirm it's on.
- Scroll to the bottom and click App passwords.
- Type a name you'll recognize, such as "FunnelStreams", and click Create.
- Copy the 16-character password. You won't be able to see it again.
2. Add Gmail as your SMTP service
- In your sub-account, go to Settings → Email Services → SMTP Service.
- Click Add Service and choose Gmail.
- Enter your Gmail or Google Workspace email address and paste the app password.
- Save, then send a test email.
Good to know
- Use your full email address as the username.
- Google applies its own daily sending limits. For larger campaigns, use the built-in FunnelStreams email service or a dedicated sending provider.
- If you change your Google password, Google may revoke app passwords. Create a new one and update the SMTP service.
- Google may flag sign-ins from unfamiliar locations. If the connection is blocked, check your Google security alerts and approve the activity.
