DMARC Validation Alerts and How to Fix Them
Why the check exists
Gmail and Yahoo require bulk senders to have DMARC set up. To protect your deliverability, FunnelStreams checks the From address domain before a campaign sends and warns you when something's missing.
The three alerts
1. No DMARC record found
Your From domain doesn't have a DMARC record.
Fix: In your domain's DNS, add a TXT record with host
_dmarc and value v=DMARC1; p=none;. Wait for DNS to update, then try again.2. Invalid DMARC record format
A DMARC record exists but has a syntax error, such as a missing
v=DMARC1, a typo in p=, or two DMARC records.Fix: Keep exactly one DMARC record. It must start with
v=DMARC1; and include a valid policy (p=none, p=quarantine or p=reject).3. Domain mismatch
The From address uses a different domain from the one you send through, so DMARC alignment fails. For example, sending as you@yourbrand.com through a dedicated domain for a different brand.
Fix: Use a From address on the same domain (or a parent domain) as your dedicated sending domain, or add a dedicated sending domain for the From domain.
Troubleshooting
- DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to show up.
- Use a DMARC lookup tool to confirm the record is public.
- Free mailbox domains (gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com) can't be used as a From address for bulk sending.
