Dedicated Email Sending Domains: Overview and Setup
What a dedicated sending domain is
By default, emails go out through shared sending infrastructure. A dedicated sending domain sends your email from a domain you own, such as
mail.yourbrand.com. Your reputation then depends on your own sending habits, and your email passes SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment. Why use one
- Better inbox placement with Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook
- Meets Google and Yahoo bulk sender rules
- Your brand appears in the "mailed-by" and "signed-by" details
- Your reputation isn't affected by other senders
Before you start
- Use a subdomain (for example
mail.oremail.), not your root domain. That keeps your main domain's reputation separate. - You need access to your domain's DNS settings.
Set it up
- Go to Settings → Email Services → Dedicated Domain.
- Click + Add Domain, enter the subdomain and click Add & Verify.
- Add the DNS records shown (TXT for SPF and DKIM, CNAME for tracking, MX if listed) at your DNS provider. Or use automatic setup if your DNS provider is supported.
- Return to FunnelStreams and click Verify. It can take up to 48 hours for DNS to update.
- When the domain shows Verified, set it as the default sending domain.
After setup
- Add a DMARC record for your root domain if you don't already have one.
- Warm up the new domain by starting with small, engaged sends.
- Use From addresses on the same domain.
