Google Postmaster Tools
What it is
Google Postmaster Tools is a free Google service that shows how Gmail sees your email: domain reputation, IP reputation, spam rate, authentication results and delivery errors. Since Gmail is the largest inbox provider, it's one of the best early warnings for deliverability problems.
Set it up in Google
- Go to Google Postmaster Tools and sign in with a Google account.
- Click + and add your sending domain (the dedicated domain you send from).
- Google gives you a TXT record. Add it to your domain's DNS.
- Click Verify.
Data appears once you're sending enough daily volume to Gmail users.
Connect it to FunnelStreams
- Go to Settings → Email Services → Postmaster Tools.
- Click Connect for Google and sign in with the Google account you used above.
- Choose your verified domain.
Your Gmail reputation and spam rate then appear in FunnelStreams alongside your other email stats.
What to watch
- Spam rate: keep it below 0.1%. Never let it reach 0.3%.
- Domain reputation: aim for High or Medium. Low or Bad means you should slow down and clean your list.
- Authentication: SPF, DKIM and DMARC should be close to 100% pass.
