Send Funnel Events to the Facebook Conversions API

The Conversions API sends events from the server to Meta, alongside your browser pixel. This gives Meta more reliable data for targeting and reporting, even when browsers block tracking.

Step 1: Create a pixel

  1. Open Meta Events Manager in the ad account that runs your ads.
  2. Click Connect data sources, choose Web, and click Connect.
  3. Create a new pixel or pick an existing one.
  4. Enter your funnel or website domain and click Check.
  5. Choose to set up both the pixel and the Conversions API, and choose the manual setup option.
  6. Pick the events you want, such as Lead, Purchase, or CompleteRegistration, and the customer information to send (email, phone, and client user agent at minimum). Use the same choices for every event.
  7. Choose Install code manually and copy the pixel code.
  8. In the pixel settings, generate a Conversions API access token and copy it. Keep it private.

Step 2: Add the pixel to your funnel or website

  1. Go to Sites > Funnels (or Websites) and open your funnel.
  2. Open Settings and paste the pixel code into Head tracking code. Or paste it into a page's tracking code to track only that page.
  3. Save and publish.

Step 3: Create the workflow

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and create a workflow.
  2. Choose a trigger for the event, such as Form Submitted or Order Submitted.
  3. Add the Facebook Conversion API action.
  4. Enter the Pixel ID and access token, and choose the event name, such as Lead or Purchase.
  5. Publish.

Step 4: Test

In Events Manager, open Test events, submit your form or test purchase, and check that the server event arrives. Meta removes duplicates when both the browser and server send the same event.
