Create a LinkedIn Ad Campaign in Ad Manager

Ad Manager lets you create LinkedIn ads from FunnelStreams. LinkedIn ads have three levels:
  • Campaign group: the top level, for related campaigns.
  • Campaign: audience, ad format, language, location, budget, and schedule.
  • Ad: the creative, including media, text, call to action, and lead form.
Go to Marketing > Ad Manager and connect LinkedIn if you haven't yet. You can start from scratch or pick a LinkedIn template under Ad Manager Templates.

Step 1: Create a campaign group

Set:
  • Name, such as "Q4 Leads."
  • Objective: Lead Generation to collect leads with LinkedIn forms, or Website Traffic to send clicks to your page.
  • Schedule and, if you want, a group budget.
Use groups to organize campaigns by goal.

Step 2: Create a campaign

Add one or more campaigns to the group and set:
  • Campaign name, ad format, and language
  • Budget, bid, and schedule
  • Audience: location is required. You can add filters such as job title, function, seniority, industry, company size, and skills. Use the logic builder to combine groups with AND/OR, for example "Marketing function AND Director seniority."

Step 3: Create ads

Each campaign can have several ads. Choose:
  • Single image, single video, or carousel
  • Intro text, headline, destination URL, and call to action
  • For lead generation, a lead gen form. Pick an existing form or create one.

Step 4: Review and publish

Check all three levels, then publish. LinkedIn reviews the ads before they run.
Ad spend is billed by LinkedIn to the payment method on your LinkedIn ad account.

Step 5: Track performance

Go to Marketing > Ad Manager > Statistics and choose LinkedIn. See "LinkedIn Ad Statistics in Ad Manager."

Best practices

  • Keep audiences focused. Very broad audiences cost more per lead.
  • Test two or three ads per campaign.
  • Keep lead forms short.
  • Map lead form fields so leads land on the right contact fields.
