Voice AI: Noise Cancellation and Backchanneling
Two audio settings help Voice AI calls sound clear and natural.
- Noise Cancellation reduces background noise on the caller's side so the agent hears them clearly.
- Backchanneling adds short listening sounds, such as "mm-hmm" or "got it," while the caller talks.
Noise Cancellation modes
- Off: no filtering.
- Remove Noise: filters common sounds such as air conditioning, typing, and traffic.
- Stronger filtering: for loud places, such as busy streets or crowded rooms.
Set them up
- Go to AI Agents > Voice AI and open the agent.
- Open the call or voice settings.
- Choose a Noise Cancellation mode.
- Turn Backchanneling on or off and set how often it happens.
- Save and make a test call.
Tips
- Start with Remove Noise and only increase it if callers are often in loud places.
- Keep backchanneling light so it doesn't interrupt the caller.
