Conversation AI: Bot Inactive (Sleep) Conditions

A Conversation AI agent can become inactive, or go to sleep, for a contact. When that happens it stops replying to that contact.

Common reasons

  • Stop Bot: a stop condition was met.
  • Human Handover: the conversation was handed to a team member.
  • Goal complete: the agent finished its goal, such as booking an appointment, and is set to stop afterward.
  • Team reply: a team member replied, and the agent is set to pause when that happens.
  • Message limit: the agent reached its maximum number of replies for the conversation.
  • Manual change: someone set the contact's bot status to inactive.

Check and change the status

  1. Open the conversation in Conversations.
  2. Click the bot status icon in the message box.
  3. See the current status and set it back to Active if needed.
Review your Bot Goals settings if the agent goes inactive more often than you expect.
