Domains: Overview and Management

A domain is the web address people type to find you, such as yourbrand.com. Connecting your own domain makes your funnels, websites, and emails look professional and on brand.

What DNS records are

DNS records are settings at your domain provider that tell the internet where your domain should go. The common ones are:
  • A record: points a domain to an IP address.
  • CNAME record: points a subdomain to another hostname.
  • TXT record: proves you own the domain and authenticates email (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
  • MX record: says where email for the domain is delivered.

What you can connect a domain to

  • Funnels, websites, stores, webinars, and blogs: host your customer-facing pages on your own address.
  • Client Portal: give members a branded address for courses, communities, and more. Client Portal is on the Unlimited and Plus plans.
  • Email sending: authenticate your domain so your emails land in the inbox, not spam.

Before you start

  • Get a domain. You can buy one right in FunnelStreams under Settings > Domains & URL Redirects > Purchase/Transfer Domain (see "How to Buy a Domain in FunnelStreams"), or use one you already own at a registrar such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Namecheap.
  • If your domain is at another registrar, make sure you can log in to wherever its DNS is managed.

Manage your domains in one place

Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects to see every domain on your account, what each one is connected to, and whether its DNS checks out. From here you can add, edit, or remove domains and choose default pages.

Root domain, subdomain, and www

  • Root domain: yourbrand.com. Good for your main website.
  • Subdomain: offer.yourbrand.com or portal.yourbrand.com. Great for funnels, the Client Portal, or anything you want to keep separate from your main site.
  • www: www.yourbrand.com is a subdomain too. When you connect a root domain, you can add www and redirect one to the other so visitors always land in the same place.
Each hostname can point to only one place at a time. If your main site lives elsewhere, use a subdomain for FunnelStreams.
For step-by-step setup, see "How to Manage and Connect a Purchased Domain."
