How Email Domain Warmup Works
When you start sending from a new dedicated email domain, inbox providers don't know you yet. Warmup builds your sending reputation by raising your daily volume step by step, so your emails are less likely to land in spam or get delayed.
How it works
Warmup has 15 stages, each with a daily sending threshold.
- To move up, your domain must send its current stage's full daily amount.
- If it doesn't reach the threshold, it stays at that stage.
- There are no hourly limits.
- Emails have to go out through the domain being warmed up to count.
- Moving between stages happens automatically.
| Stage | Daily threshold | | --- | --- | | 1 | 1,000 | | 2 | 2,500 | | 3 | 5,000 | | 4 | 6,500 | | 5 | 8,000 | | 6 | 10,000 | | 7 | 14,000 | | 8 | 20,000 | | 9 | 25,000 | | 10 | 35,000 | | 11 | 50,000 | | 12 | 80,000 | | 13 | 125,000 | | 14 | 175,000 | | 15 | 250,000 |
Example: in Stage 1, your domain needs to send 1,000 emails in a day to qualify for Stage 2.
New and existing domains
- New dedicated domains: warmup turns on automatically once the domain is set up and verified.
- Existing dedicated domains: turn it on yourself.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings > Email Services.
- Open Dedicated Domain and IP.
- Find your sending domain and turn on Warmup.
Track progress
The domain's warmup panel shows its current stage, today's threshold, and how much you've sent.
Tips
- Send your most engaged contacts first during warmup.
- Keep content consistent and avoid sudden spikes.
- Clean your list before you start, since bounces and spam complaints slow warmup down.
