Error 30004: Message Blocked or Recipient Opted Out
What this error means
Error 30004 means the destination number couldn't receive the message. The recipient may have blocked it, opted out earlier, or the number may be restricted by the carrier or by local regulations.
Common causes
- The recipient blocked your number or opted out with STOP.
- The device has weak or no signal.
- The number can't receive SMS, or it's a landline.
- The number is on a national Do Not Call registry (for example in India).
- The recipient's carrier has a delivery issue.
- A US or Canadian toll-free number is messaging a recipient who opted out of that toll-free number.
How to fix it
- Check the conversation for STOP or other opt-out replies, and check the contact's DND settings.
- If the contact opted out, don't message them again unless they opt back in.
- Confirm the number is a mobile number with the correct country code.
- If the contact hasn't opted out, ask them through another channel whether they've blocked texts from your number.
- Try again later if a temporary carrier issue is suspected.
Prevention
Respect opt-outs in every workflow and campaign. Filter DND contacts out of SMS steps, and follow local registry rules for international messaging.
