Error 21612: Messaging Route Not Supported
What this error means
Error 21612 means the From number can't send messages to the recipient's country or region. The sender and destination aren't compatible, so you need a different number or route.
Common causes
- The To or From number isn't formatted correctly.
- The sender's country and the destination country aren't compatible.
- The destination requires a local sending number.
- The destination country restricts certain number types, such as toll-free numbers.
- The recipient's carrier can't be reached through the current route.
- The number isn't enabled for messaging to that region.
How to fix it
- Check both numbers are in E.164 format with the correct country codes.
- Confirm which country the recipient is in.
- Send from a number that supports messaging to that country. Some countries require a local number.
- Check that the destination region is enabled for messaging in Settings → Phone System.
- If no compatible sender is available, reach the contact through email or WhatsApp.
