How to Fix Bad Call Quality
Common causes
- Insufficient bandwidth: slow or congested internet.
- Browser problems: outdated browser, too many tabs or conflicting extensions.
- Audio hardware: faulty headset, wrong input or output device.
- Network settings: VPNs, firewalls or Wi-Fi interference.
Check your internet connection
- Run a speed test. Voice calls need a stable connection with low latency and little jitter.
- Use a wired connection when possible, or move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Pause large downloads, uploads and video streaming during calls.
Optimize your browser
- Use the latest version of Chrome or another supported browser.
- Close unused tabs and disable extensions you don't need.
- Clear cache and reload the app.
- Make sure microphone access is allowed for the site.
Test your audio hardware
- Use a wired or good-quality headset instead of laptop speakers.
- Check that the right microphone and speaker are selected in your browser and computer settings.
- Try another headset to rule out hardware faults.
Adjust your network
- Turn off VPNs during calls.
- Ask your IT team to allow voice traffic (WebRTC) through the firewall.
- On busy networks, ask about Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize voice.
