How to Purchase a Phone Number
Before you buy
- Availability: inventory changes, so a specific area code or number type may not always be available.
- Verification: some countries and number types need identity verification or a regulatory bundle before purchase.
- Purpose: decide if the number is for calls, texts or both, and whether it's local or toll-free.
- Registration: to text US contacts, local numbers need A2P 10DLC registration and toll-free numbers need toll-free verification.
- Numbers are managed per sub-account. Each sub-account should have its own number for tracking and compliance.
Buy a number
- Go to Settings → Phone System → Phone Numbers.
- Click + Add Number and select Add Phone Number.
- Choose the country.
- Use Filters to pick the number type (Local, Mobile or Toll-Free), area code or digits, and capabilities (Voice, SMS, MMS).
- Select a number and click Proceed to Buy.
- Complete any identity or regulatory steps shown, then confirm.
After you buy
- Set the number's routing in Edit Configuration.
- Assign it to users if needed.
- Register it for A2P 10DLC or toll-free verification before texting US contacts.
- Set it as your default number if it's your main business line.
Troubleshooting
- No numbers found: try a nearby area code or fewer filters.
- Purchase blocked: finish identity verification or the regulatory bundle for that country.
