How to Reduce Inbound Spam Calls
Before you start
- Calls with hidden or private caller ID are already blocked.
- Spammers often spoof local numbers, so blocking single numbers alone isn't reliable.
- The best results come from combining detection with friction for suspicious callers.
Step 1: Turn on Number Intelligence
Number Intelligence uses phone number reputation data to identify likely spam callers.
Go to Settings → Phone System → Additional Settings → Number Intelligence and turn it on.
Step 2: Quarantine repeat spam numbers
- Create a Spam call call disposition.
- When a spam call comes in, mark it with that disposition.
- Use a workflow to turn on inbound DND for calls for contacts with that disposition, so repeat callers are blocked.
Step 3: Add an IVR screen
An IVR menu ("Press 1 to reach sales") stops most automated robocalls before they ring your team.
Step 4: Review regularly
- Check call reports for spikes from unknown numbers.
- Update your spam disposition and DND rules as patterns change.
