Submit and Track Port-In Number Requests

What porting in does

Porting moves an existing US number from your current carrier into your account, so you keep the number while managing calls and texts here. Port-in requests are submitted by admin users and the feature may need to be turned on in Labs.

Before you start

Have these ready, exactly as your current carrier has them:
  • The numbers to port
  • Account holder name and service address
  • Account number and transfer PIN, if your carrier uses one
  • A recent billing statement (PDF)
  • The authorized representative's name and email
Keep your service active with your current carrier until the port is complete. Canceling early can lose the number.

Letter of Authorization

After you submit, a Letter of Authorization (LOA) is generated from your details and emailed to the authorized representative to sign digitally. The port can't continue until it's signed.

Submit a port-in request

  1. Sign in as an admin and make sure Port-In Numbers is enabled in Labs.
  2. Go to Settings → Phone System → Phone Numbers and open Port-In Numbers.
  3. Start a new request and enter the numbers and carrier account details.
  4. Upload the billing statement.
  5. Review and submit, then have the representative sign the LOA.

Track the request

Open Port-In Numbers to see each request's status. If a carrier rejects it, the reason is shown. Correct the details and resubmit.

Tips

  • Mismatched names, addresses or PINs are the top reason for rejections.
  • International numbers use a separate process. See Porting Options: US In-App vs International.
