Know Your Customer (KYC) in the United Kingdom

What KYC is

Know Your Customer (KYC) information verifies that an individual or business is who they say they are. Regulators and carriers use it to reduce spam and fraud. Requirements vary by country and number type.

UK requirements

UK long codes must be linked to an approved Regulatory Compliance (RC) bundle before they can be used for messaging.
  • May 27, 2024: new UK long-code purchases need an approved RC bundle first.
  • July 30, 2024: texts from international long codes to the UK are blocked.
  • September 30, 2024: all UK long codes must have an approved bundle.

What you'll need

Requirements depend on whether the number is for an individual or a business, and whether it's a local/national or mobile/toll-free number.
  • Individuals: full name, address and proof of address, and in some cases photo ID.
  • Businesses: registered business name and number, business address and proof of address, and an authorized representative, who should be a senior manager responsible for the phone numbers.

How to submit KYC information

  1. Go to Settings → Phone System → Regulatory Bundles.
  2. Click Create Bundle, then choose the United Kingdom, the number type and individual or business.
  3. Enter the details and upload documents.
  4. Submit and wait for approval.
  5. Link the approved bundle to your UK numbers, or use it when you buy a new one.
