Physical VoIP Deskphones (SIP)
What it is
The deskphone integration lets a compatible open-SIP handset register with your phone system, so a user can make and receive business calls from a physical phone. Recording and transcription still apply when they're turned on.
Each deskphone is set up with a SIP domain, SIP username or extension, password and an assigned user.
Who can set it up
| Role | Access | | --- | --- | | Sub-account admin | Can set up deskphones in their sub-account | | Other users | View only; ask an admin to configure the device |
Requirements
- An unlocked, open-SIP deskphone (carrier-locked phones won't work).
- A stable network. Allow SIP and voice traffic through your firewall and turn off SIP ALG on your router if you have audio or registration problems.
Set up a deskphone
- Go to Settings → Phone System and open the deskphone (SIP) settings.
- Add a device and assign it to a user.
- Copy the SIP domain, username and password shown.
- Enter them in the deskphone's web interface or setup menu and save.
- Confirm the phone shows as registered.
- Place and receive a test call.
Troubleshooting
- Inbound works, outbound fails: check the user has an outbound number and calling permission.
- Outbound works, inbound fails: check the user's ring settings include the deskphone and the number routes to that user.
- One-way audio: usually a firewall or SIP ALG issue.
