RCS Messaging
What RCS is
Rich Communication Services (RCS) upgrades business texting with a verified sender name and logo, rich cards, images and carousels, suggested replies and action buttons, and read receipts on supported devices.
If a recipient's device or carrier doesn't support RCS, the message can fall back to SMS so it still gets delivered.
RCS is currently in private beta. Availability and features may change.
Before you start
- Your RCS sender must be registered and approved. See How RCS Registration Works.
- Have your logo, brand color, business description, website and opt-in details ready.
- Keep your SMS compliance in place (A2P or toll-free verification), because fallback messages are sent as SMS.
Sending RCS
After your sender is approved, RCS can be used from Conversations, workflows and bulk messaging where supported. Rich content is shown to RCS-capable recipients; others receive the SMS version.
Best practices
- Write messages that also make sense as plain SMS.
- Use suggested replies to make responding easy.
- Only message people who opted in, and honor opt-outs.
Carrier fees may apply to RCS messages.
