Toll-Free Verification Guide (US/Canada)
Why verification is required
Toll-free numbers that text recipients in the US or Canada must complete toll-free verification. Numbers that are unverified, pending or rejected can't send SMS/MMS to the US or Canada, and messages sent before approval may be blocked.
What you'll need
- Legal business name, address and website.
- A business contact (name, email, phone).
- The use case and a description of the messages you'll send.
- Sample messages with your business name and opt-out language.
- How people opt in, with a link or image of the opt-in (form, keyword or verbal script).
- Estimated monthly volume.
Submit verification
- Go to Settings → Phone System → Trust Center (or the number's toll-free verification option).
- Select the toll-free number.
- Enter the business details, use case, samples and opt-in information.
- Submit.
Review usually takes several days to a few weeks. Track the status on the number.
Opt-in reference
- Website: an unchecked, optional SMS consent checkbox with business name, message types, frequency, "Msg & data rates may apply", HELP and STOP, plus Privacy Policy and Terms links.
- Keyword: show the keyword, number and full disclosure wherever it's advertised.
- Verbal: provide the script you read to customers.
Tips
- Use a live, secure (https) website that matches your business.
- Don't use public link shorteners in samples.
- If rejected, see Why Was My Toll-Free Verification Rejected.
