Troubleshooting SMS Delivery Issues
Delivery statuses
| Status | Meaning | | --- | --- | | Queued / Sending | The message is waiting to go out | | Sent | It left your number and was handed to the carrier | | Delivered | The recipient's carrier confirmed delivery | | Undelivered / Failed | The carrier couldn't deliver it; an error code explains why |
"Sent" doesn't mean delivered. Some carriers don't return delivery receipts.
Check a message's status
- Open Conversations and the contact's thread.
- Hover over or click the message to see its status and any error code.
- Look up the error code in Understanding Common SMS Delivery Errors.
Common issues and fixes
- Not registered: US local numbers need an approved A2P campaign; toll-free numbers need verification.
- Carrier filtering (30007): review content, remove link shorteners and make sure contacts opted in.
- Invalid or landline numbers: clean your list and validate numbers.
- Opted-out contact: the contact replied STOP and can't be texted until they opt back in.
- Sending limits: you may have reached your daily or ramp-up limit.
- Country not enabled: international destinations may need to be allowed.
Still stuck?
