Set Up Multi-Tier Affiliate Commissions
Affiliate Manager is included on the Unlimited and Plus plans.
What multi-tier commissions are
With multi-tier commissions, affiliates earn on their own sales and on sales made by affiliates they referred. Each level in the referral chain is a tier, and each tier can have its own rate.
Good to know
- Set up multi-tier commissions while creating an affiliate campaign.
- You can have up to seven tiers.
- Commissions are only paid to tiers that exist in the chain. If a chain has three affiliates and you've set five tiers, only the first three tiers are paid.
- Tier rates can use your default commission or product-specific commissions.
How it works
The affiliate who made the sale gets the Tier 1 commission. The affiliate who referred them gets Tier 2, and so on up the chain.
For example, with tiers of 20%, 10%, 5%, 3% and 2% on a sale of 100 (in your currency):
- Jan, who made the sale (Tier 1), earns 20.
- Toby, who referred Jan (Tier 2), earns 10.
- Ryan (Tier 3) earns 5.
- Jim (Tier 4) earns 3.
- Michael (Tier 5) earns 2.
If the chain only had three affiliates, only the first three tiers (20, 10 and 5) would be paid.
