Create a Google Search Campaign with Multiple Ad Groups
Overview
Splitting a Search campaign into ad groups lets you write ads that match each keyword theme. This walkthrough shows you how.
Step 1: Create the campaign
- Go to Marketing → Ad Manager and click Create Campaign.
- Choose Google → Search and click Next.
- Enter the campaign name, goal, budget and bid strategy.
- Set locations, languages and dates.
Step 2: Build your first ad group
- Name the ad group after its theme, such as "Teeth whitening".
- Add the keywords for that theme.
- Create a responsive search ad: final URL, headlines (up to 15) and descriptions (up to 4).
Step 3: Add more ad groups
- Click Add ad group.
- Name it, add its keywords and create its ads.
- Repeat for each theme.
Step 4: Add assets
Add sitelinks, callouts and call assets at the campaign level so all ad groups can use them.
Step 5: Review and publish
Check the summary, review the Opportunity Score and click Publish.
