How to Connect a New Domain to FunnelStreams

Connect your own domain so your funnels and websites live at your brand's address, like mydomain.com or offer.mydomain.com. If your domain is with a supported registrar such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or IONOS, FunnelStreams can set up the DNS for you in a couple of clicks. For any other registrar, you add one DNS record yourself.
Need a domain first? You can buy one right in FunnelStreams. Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects and click Purchase/Transfer Domain. See How to Buy a Domain in FunnelStreams. Or bring a domain you already own from any registrar and connect it with the steps below.

Before you start

  • Root domain or subdomain? A root domain is mydomain.com. A subdomain adds a prefix, like www.mydomain.com or offer.mydomain.com.
  • Each address can point to only one place. If mydomain.com already runs a site somewhere else that needs to stay live, use a subdomain such as go.mydomain.com for FunnelStreams.
  • Have your registrar login handy. You'll sign in there to approve the connection or add a record.
New to domains? Start with Domains: Overview and Management.

Step 1: Add your domain

  1. Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects.
  2. Click + Connect a domain. (On some accounts this button is labeled + Add Domain.)
  3. Find Funnel/Website/Store/Blog/Webinar and click Connect.
  4. Type your root domain or subdomain in the Domain URL field.
  5. Click Continue to set it up automatically (Step 2), or Add record manually to do the DNS yourself (Step 2b).
When you connect a root domain, FunnelStreams can also add the www version and send www visitors to the root domain with a 301 redirect. Leave that on unless you want it the other way around.

Step 2: Let FunnelStreams set up your DNS (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, IONOS, and other supported registrars)

When you click Continue, FunnelStreams looks up where your domain is registered. If that registrar is supported, it can add the DNS records for you.
  1. Click Authorize.
  2. Sign in to your registrar (for example, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or IONOS) when it opens.
  3. Approve the DNS connection.
  4. Close the registrar tab and come back to FunnelStreams.
  5. Give FunnelStreams a moment to verify the records, then go to Step 3.
If your registrar isn't supported yet, FunnelStreams tells you and shows the records to add yourself. Follow Step 2b.

Step 2b: Add the DNS record yourself (any other registrar)

Sign in to the registrar or DNS host that manages your domain, such as Namecheap, Bluehost, or Squarespace, and add one of these records:
Use it forTypeHost / NameValue
Root domain (mydomain.com)A@162.159.140.166
Subdomain (offer.mydomain.com)CNAMEThe subdomain only, like offer or wwwsites.ludicrous.cloud
Subdomain, alternativeAThe subdomain only162.159.140.166
  • Use an A record or a CNAME for an address, never both.
  • Using Cloudflare? Set the record's proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud). Proxied records won't connect.
  • DNS changes can take time to spread. If the domain doesn't verify right away, wait and try again. It can take up to 24 hours, and occasionally up to 48.
Then go back to FunnelStreams and let it verify the record.

Step 3: Link the domain to a funnel or website

Once the DNS checks out, you'll see a screen to choose what the domain should open.
  1. Choose the funnel or website.
  2. Choose the funnel step or website page that should load as the default landing page.
  3. Click Link Domain.
That's it. FunnelStreams adds a free SSL certificate for you automatically. It can take a few minutes to finish.

Set the default page and 404 page

The default page is what visitors see at the bare domain (mydomain.com instead of mydomain.com/home). The 404 page is where they land if they open a link that doesn't exist.
  1. Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects.
  2. Click Manage next to the domain.
  3. If you see an Action Required reminder, click it. Otherwise, open the three-dot menu on the connected product and click Edit.
  4. Pick a Default Page and a Default 404/Error Page.
  5. Click Save.

Check your DNS records

Want to see what the internet sees? Use a free public DNS lookup tool such as MXToolbox. Search your domain or subdomain and look for an A record pointing to 162.159.140.166 or a CNAME pointing to sites.ludicrous.cloud. Recent changes may not show up until they've spread.

Remove a domain

  1. Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects.
  2. Click Manage next to the domain.
  3. Open the three-dot menu and click Delete.
  4. Confirm.
Make sure no live funnel or website still needs the domain before you remove it.

Troubleshooting

"CNAME / A record not found"

  • Check which provider actually manages your DNS. Look at the domain's nameservers. It isn't always where you bought the domain.
  • Add the record at that provider, with just the subdomain (like offer) in the Host / Name field.
  • Remove any other A or CNAME record for the same address.
  • Save, give it time to spread, then retry verification.

SSL or privacy error

  • More than one A or CNAME record exists for the address. Keep only the FunnelStreams one.
  • No DNS record has been added yet.
  • An AAAA record exists alongside your A or CNAME record. Delete it.
  • On Cloudflare, the record is proxied. Switch it to DNS only.

404 errors

  • On the bare domain (mydomain.com): set a default page (see above). If one is already set, save it again.
  • On a path (mydomain.com/home): make sure a connected funnel or website page uses that exact path. If it does and it still fails, remove the domain from the funnel or website, save, add it back, and save again.
  • Only sometimes: visitors may be using both www and the root domain. Redirect one to the other.

Cloudflare domain won't connect

If your records look right but you still get a privacy error, missing images, or can't add the domain, open Cloudflare > DNS, find the A or CNAME record, and set Proxy status to DNS only. Only use Proxied when a redirect setup specifically tells you to.

FAQs

Can I use the same domain with another platform?

Not the same address. One domain or subdomain can point to only one platform at a time (WordPress, Wix, and so on). If mydomain.com runs your WordPress site, use site.mydomain.com for FunnelStreams, or a different domain. The same goes for memberships or anything else hosted on a different server.

Can I use the same domain in more than one of my accounts?

Yes. You can add the same domain to more than one of your FunnelStreams accounts.

How many domains can I add?

As many as you need. There's no set limit.

Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?

No. FunnelStreams creates one for free once the domain connects.

Can I buy a domain in FunnelStreams?

Yes. Go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects and click Purchase/Transfer Domain to search for and buy a domain. Domains you buy there connect without any DNS setup at a registrar. See How to Buy a Domain in FunnelStreams and Configure and Connect a Domain You Bought in FunnelStreams. You can also bring a domain from any registrar and connect it here.

How many funnels and websites can use one domain?

As many as you need. Give each page its own path so every link opens the right place.

Can I skip automatic setup?

Yes. Choose Add record manually anytime and follow Step 2b.
